Community Yoga

Jeanetta Irving

"I moved to Bentonville, Arkansas in 2006 and the move was accompanied by a dramatic life change. Previously I traveled extensively completing accounting work, but once moving to Arkansas I was given the chance to stay home with my two daughters. Needing a break from the busy (and stressful!) life of being a 24-hour Mom, I accepted a neighbor’s invitation to attend a yoga class. Right away I fell in love with yoga! The combination of exercise, peace, and no expectations for an hour allowed me to slow down, reflect and grow in a peaceful environment. In 2008, I began teaching yoga at a local fitness club and did so for several years. I enjoyed promoting health and healing so much, I took a break from teaching yoga to obtain my nursing degree. Shortly after graduating, I went back to practicing yoga and have continued to practice several times a week. Being an active yoga practitioner provides me an overall feeling of wellness that I love to share with other members of our community!"
 
Off the mat Jeanetta loves to work in her yard, garden, cook and spend time with her family and three cats!

Anne Suarez

"As an avid runner and fitness enthusiast, I walked into my first yoga class while on vacation in Colorado. I was curious to experience what yoga might be like. Could I become more flexible? Would I be able to move into the physical postures as instructed? It was during this yoga class within full view of Pike's Peak that something clicked from within my body--I felt connected in a profound way, breath, body, mind and spirit. As my yoga practice grew, I knew that I wanted to learn more about yoga. In 2014 I received my 200 HR RYT. Ever the student, I completed my 500 HR RYT with an emphasis on Yoga Therapy Level 1. Further studies include: Balanced Athlete Level One Certification, Yoga Nidra, Yoga of the Heart--Cardiac and Cancer Certification, and LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Training for Depression and Anxiety. I am grateful to the many wonderful teachers and students that I have worked with--the gift of yoga is meant to be shared."
When she's not on her mat, Anne enjoys spending time with her family and Westie, traveling, exercising, hiking, reading and being a foodie. Walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela is her next major endeavor and dream. “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” - Rumi

Camas Maroney

“I have overcome many health hurdles in my life. Having had 12 surgeries by age 12 and spending 1 year in high school in a wheelchair, I struggled to find a form of exercise that would work for me. Four years ago I moved to NW Arkansas and landed at Yoga Story with studio owner Cindee Joslin. Cindee inspired me to really practice Yoga. I soon learned that Yoga was the answer for me. Today I find “Peace and Strength” in my everyday practice and teaching. Through Yoga I love inspiring others to overcome their health challenges. I teach our students to cultivate strength in the body and a calming presence to the mind.”
 
When off the mat Camas enjoys volunteering at her kids’ school, spending time with friends, reading, gardening, cooking and traveling. She is a 200 hr certified Yoga Instructor from Yoga Story 200 Hour Teacher Training and an RYT with Yoga Alliance. Camas furthered her education with additional training by Ray Long, Jessica O'Keefe and Jaimie Elmer.

Erica Budway

"Though I began practicing yoga as a method for physical fitness, my practice has evolved into one that is as emotional and spiritual as it is physical. I love yoga because I truly believe it is a lifelong journey that is constantly evolving and growing with everyone, and there is no limit to what you can achieve in your practice!  With my sense of humor and creativity, I hope to bring a fresh perspective to your existing practice."
 
Off the mat, Erica loves skiing, reading, baking and being surrounded by music.

Greg Johnson

"I found yoga 5 years ago after a running injury. I found that it not only helps to stretch tight muscles, it stretches the mind even more. I practice yoga daily. Even when I can’t make it to the studio, I practice at home and recommend that all students to do the same. The thing I love the most about yoga is that it isn't a competition - unlike everything else in our lives. I am grateful that I get to go to a place where I can practice right next to an advanced yogi or a newbie. Your practice is your own. There is no judgment."
 
Off the mat, Greg enjoys running all distances - having completed 10 marathons, over 40 half marathons and more 5k and 10k’s than he can count. Greg and his wife Liz love to hike and travel and spend as much time as they can with their dogs, Powder, Grace and Hamilton.

Rebecca Davis

"The sheer joy of movement and appreciation for health – that is what yoga is to me and what I hope to share with others. I began yoga in 2000 and treasure my home practice because it gives me a chance to connect with myself. At the same time, I cherish the community that Yoga Story has fostered and am grateful to all of you for making the studio a safe and vibrant place."

 

A native of California with bits of her heart rooted in Iowa, Austin, and Northwest Arkansas, off the mat, Rebecca is most likely to be found with her nose in a book, arms around a tree (figuratively), loving on a dog (she has a soft spot for the older ones), or laughing with her husband (new jokes not required).

Sherry Fitzgerald

"I have been a health and fitness enthusiast all my life; actively taking and teaching various exercise classes since college. I started practicing yoga at home 20 years ago to help relieve neck and shoulder stiffness caused by
my working in an office all day. Little did I know how much more yoga would bring to my life! Not only did yoga release muscle tension, but I felt stronger and calmer which enabled me to deal with stress better. Yoga provides me a sense of balance! As a result, I have been practicing, discovering and learning about yoga ever since. I value how
yoga brings me fully present in the moment, while challenging me to increase my strength both physically and mentally - cultivating the mind-body connection. Helping others find their path and strength within yoga is what motivates me to teach. Favorite quotes to live by: “Live what you love.” & “You are stronger than you think.”
 
When Sherry is not on the yoga mat, she's reading a good book, spending time with friends or outdoors hiking or biking the trails of Northwest Arkansas and experiencing the adventures her two golden retrievers provide on daily walks.

Lynn Hancock ~ Studio Owner/Director of Teacher Training

"My journey with yoga began in my early 20's as I was experiencing the stress of 'growing up' and had heard how relaxing yoga was. I started practicing in my duplex, with a book and magazines I bought. What I discovered, was a multifaceted practice with many branches, from challenging to peaceful and restorative. Yoga makes space for everyone. With each stage in my life, marriage and motherhood, I always found myself returning to yoga as I always felt grounded and challenged after I practiced. After discovering hot yoga, I was thrilled when Cindee opened Yoga~Story. When I teach, I love the look on someone’s face when they have done a challenging pose for the first time, open a hip, melt into the mat or make a surprising realization about self and ability. When they let go, their struggle becomes their strength."

Lynn enjoys spending time with her husband and son, running, cooking, socializing and enjoying everything that Bentonville has to offer. She began her yoga journey 13 years ago and left the corporate world to become an AFAA certified personal trainer and 200 hour certified yoga instructor.
