Acro-Yoga Foundation Workshop with Sacred Somatics Sun, Sep 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Sacred Somatics will be hosting an Acro-Yoga Foundations Workshop on Sept 24th at Yoga Story located in Bentonville!

Come discover a playful, magical practice combining yoga, acrobatics, and creative movement. Acrobatic Yoga (or Acro-Yoga) is a form of partner exercise that incorporates elements of yoga and acrobatics to achieve strength, balance, therapeutics, equilibrium in the body and of course, teamwork. This practice allows you to play and unleash your inner child while cultivating trust and community in a very powerful way.

In this two hour workshop, we will introduce you to the basics building blocks of acro-yoga! You will learn about the fundamental positions of flying, basing, and spotting, as well as get a chance to experience all three of them. We will be working in groups and switching up partners for a safe, shared experience, that will allow everyone equal instruction and play time. We will start with some basic and foundational moves and then, progress into some fun, challenging postures and transitions.

-No partner is necessary to come play. Arrive solo, bring a friend, a family member or a beloved!
-This workshop is open to all levels of experience, including NO experience at all.
-Remember to bring a yoga mat (we'll have extras as well), water bottle, and wear comfortable, stretchy clothing!
-Come with a good attitude and open mind to try something new, challenging, and fun!

It's time for you to meet your acro community, to challenge yourself in a whole new way, and to play! The community that plays together stays together!! So come join us in taking flight, connecting with one another, and experiencing yoga in a new and exhilarating light!

An Evening of Live Gongs & Meditation with Rachel Ackerman Mon, Oct 16, 2017 at 7:15 pm - 8:00 pm

One of the most powerful sound healing instruments, the gong has been used for ritual, meditation, and celebration since antiquity. Currently, the gong plays an integral role in Kundalini yoga, and is also finding its way into a variety of other yoga and meditation practices. It's no wonder gongs resonate with yogis: their fundamental sound is Om.
In a live gong bath, the sheer spectrum of intricate and unpredictable harmonics invites participants to let go of mind chatter and enter a meditative state. Powerful vibrations reverberate through the body on a cellular level, releasing stress and tension. Listeners report a range of effects, such as deep relaxation, tingling or floating sensations, pulsating colors or other visions, emotional catharsis, creative inspiration, and even just falling asleep. Results vary widely. For an optimal experience, participants enter the space with an open mind, a relaxed state, and a willingness to surrender to the moment.

Experience the powerful energy from a gong meditation session.

7:15 - 8:00 pm

$12 Early Bird/$15 at the door.  Registration highly recommended.  Members discount does not apply. This workshop is non-refundable and not valid with any other offer.
